I get asked all the time how I take the girls to the grocery store with me. Well, the picture below will help you understand why the answer to that question most of the time is that I don't! Because this is what happens when I DO...

As if I don't already turn enough heads having two in my cart that look just alike, we add balloons to the mix! They are loving balloons right now and go crazy when we walk in the door and the floral department has them everywhere. I need to record it sometime. They go nuts. So, I buy them each one to help me get through my list. And it works---for a little while!

Then we move onto the milk. Another thing they LOVE (i.e. grocery cart). So, they got it. 3 of them. They can't keep the straw in for more than 5 minutes so after Sally Kate's straw fell thru twice I just said to heck with it and bought a whole box of straws...

Don't you know Winn Dixie is ALWAYS glad to see us!!!:) We've only all been back one time since!!

I can't believe I've reached another decade! I still feel like I am/should be in college at times but am reminded ever so often and on so many different levels that's not the case! I went from being 20 and a junior in college to getting married at 22, living in 4 different places, having 2 babies at 29 and being married 8 years by the time I turned 30. So, I am guessing things can go from one end of the spectrum to another in your 20's and that the 30's aren't quite so extreme?! It's been 10 of the best and hardest years of my life but I am who I am today because of it and I have to say I am thankful. Not only did I fall in love with the most wonderful man on the planet but so many sweet and precious friends have come into my life. There's nothing like the work of the Lord's hand in a friendship and every place I have lived in the past decade He has been so faithful in giving me dear friends along the way (not to mention the ones He so graciously gave in the decade before that!) I have been blessed with a wonderful family whose love for me and for them continues to grow. I was given wonderful in-laws in my 20's who are and continue to be such a highlight of my life. My two baby girls who I (we) prayed for, for so long are just my heart and if the Lord didn't surprise us all by giving us two at one time...mercy, mercy. His ways knocked my socks off that day...

I am one blessed woman who is thankful for so many, many things, but especially for the start of another decade. Here's to another healthy one full of love for my Lord and for those around me...

We moved to our new town in MS in November and ended up signing a 6 month lease. We're in that sixth month now but we've recently signed a contract on another house. We are so thankful it worked out! We love everything about it, especially the location. The previous owners had updated it a good bit as well so it was nice to walk into something that was close to being move-in ready. We closed the first of the month but have our rental for another 2 weeks. Our new house is about a mile from our rental so we thought a lot of little trips over the course of a month would be super easy...we could just move a little at a time, stay organized in the process, etc. Well, 500 trips later and we were throwing things in the car. I didn't care how it got there as long as it got there! But, we made it and we made it with the tremendous help of our parents--we are forever grateful for all they did to help us get in and we owe them about 20 steak dinners! Here's to staying in this house a LONG TIME!

First haircut

The girls were in desperate need of a haircut but I was determined that it wasn't going to happen before they turned 1. I just couldn't cut that precious baby hair before 12 months! Between me, G'mama and a bag of yogurt melts we made it through and it looks a million times better. I bet it won't be long before we need another one--especially SK--that baby girl has some hair on her head! Thank you to Ms. Lori for cutting it!

This time last year...

I had no idea that April 12th would be THE day that our two precious little girls would come into this world! I wasn't feeling great but didn't think too much about it. I sat out on our patio for a few hours that afternoon catching a few rays and writing a few thank you notes. Little did I know that would be the last few hours of quiet for a while ;) Luckily, a friend and nurse from Larkin's hospital was coming over to look at the nursery and we had asked her to check my blood pressure in the meantime. Well, she did and the rest is history! It was sky high and my doctor said to head to Memphis. We really thought they would monitor me for a little while, but as my doctor put it, "looks like we're going to have a birthday party tonight!" My body had gotten toxic so a section would shortly follow. We got to the hospital around 7 PM and Sally Kate was born at 11:46 and Simmons was born at 11:48...

It all still seems so surreal. It was a moment I will never forget. I just wanted to hear them cry and know they were healthy. Well, their lungs worked and they were absolutely perfect in every way...just tiny! Simmons was 4 lbs 3 oz and Sally Kate was 5 lbs. 7 oz.

I got to recovery shortly after mid-night and I immediately called my parents who I knew were on the way. My mom couldn't believe I was calling her from the recovery room and looking back, I can't either! I remember thinking, "I just had those babies, I just had those babies..." (We had told both of our parents to hang tight at home because we really didn't think they would take them before morning but they did so they were all driving up at 2 AM & 3 AM.)

What a joyful night and early morning of April 13th it was. I couldn't sleep for being so excited. They brought Sally Kate in the next morning and Simmons went on to the NICU so she could grow into learning how to eat well. Two weeks later we were all home and it was wonderful!!!

Here we are a year later and celebrating two of the most precious things the Lord has ever given to us. It's been such a good year...some of our greatest joy has come from it and I can't wait to see what this next year brings. It really has taken us a year to get adjusted and to feel like we have our feet back on the ground...moms of multiples told us it would but I didn't really think it would take a whole year to get adjusted. But, it does, so if you're about to have two babies just plan on being at home for a while---your life will be much easier that way ;)

We're celebrating these two cute things on Saturday with a pink bunny party but here are a few pictures from the celebrating we've done today....more pictures to come...

MCL is one of my absolute favorite magazines. I have a subscription and will always have a subscription and I get so excited the day it appears in my mailbox! Not only is the editor of the magazine one of my all time favorite people but it's packed full of encouragement from so many different contributing writers. One of my favorite of them being Robin O'Bryant. Her monthly column is entitled "Modern Motherhood" and she makes me laugh out loud every single month...and I don't laugh out loud at things I am reading very often. She totally validates what I like to call my "crazy mama life" sometimes! Her article this month is great and I found myself re-reading it tonight and thinking what "blog worthy" material it is. Hope you think the same and that a few mama's will share a laugh and be encouraged with me....

And last but not least I must comment on the fact that I have blogged 4 TIMES in less than a week...noteworthy for sure! Here's to keeping it up...

Turks & Caicos

I wish this first sentence could tell you how wonderful my trip was to Turks & Caicos but I've only been there in my dreams. A friend of mine (who just got back from here and has a fabulous blog by the way) and I were talking about vacations over the weekend and this location came up. I haven't stopped thinking about it since. I looked up a few pictures and that was a bad idea. I mean, really? It's this beautiful here? Oh, take me away T & C. Maybe one day you can, but for now I am going to start thinking about Larkin's work meeting/my/our vacation here that really is going to happen in June. I have had the beach on the brain lately and maybe it's because we never made it there last year. The beach this year can't come fast enough. One trip for the whole fam and one for mama and daddy...sounds like a plan to me!

We have been loving the weather lately! It's so nice to have a change of scenery and get outside during the day. The three of us are not out and about a whole lot but we can definitely do outside! They like their swings...most of the time...when SK is happy about getting in it and I don't find Simmons standing up in it then we're good. Yes, she stood up in it. I am a terrible mama. I ran inside for literally two minutes and came back out to see her standing up in it! No worries, though, because she got the whole "Simmons Love" speech and understood every word ;)

They were 11 months on the 12th and weigh around 19 lbs & 22 lbs. We have been battling ear infections for the past month so the last 4 weeks haven't been the peachiest of them all. The second round of antibiotics has kicked in, though, and we're all sleeping again thank goodness.

I CANNOT BELIEVE they will be ONE next month!!! Where in the world has the time gone? They're taking a few steps here and there and their new thing is waving "hey." I love watching them day to day and seeing things really start to click. They're two funny little girls!

Speaking of being one, this mama needs to kick the birthday party planning in high gear...wheels are turning and we're incorporating bunnies into it this year. We just want it to be a sweet, special day for them and are excited about celebrating it. Not celebrating too quick though as there is still some sweet time left before they hit that single digit!!

I have had my eyes glued to this blog over the past few weeks. What a beautiful story that only God could write! I do not know Patrick and Amy well, but my heart overflows with such JOY for and with them in the goodness of the Lord and the great things He has done. It's so neat to watch the Lord work and bring things full circle. It reminds me again so much that He really is there in the times of waiting, waiting and more waiting that we endure from time to time. It's not fun and it's not necessarily the way we would choose, but what beautiful things are on the other side if we can just hang on!! Be encouraged by their story and the verse in Psalm 27 that says that we WILL see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living..."wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Good things do come to those who wait...I'm living proof ;)

We finally got a little white stuff last week that everybody has been talking about! We only got about an inch or so but we acted like it was 10! You see who wasn't very excited about it...Simmons =( After 30 minutes of bundling this is what we end up with...there are so many captions that could go under this picture!! I did manage to get a picture of her before she discovered that if she crawled off the towel her hands would get cold & wet...

She's definitely catching up with her sister in the cheek department! They are looking more and more alike for sure, especially when their hair is covered. Simmons is such a sweet baby girl. She doesn't miss a trick, though! She is all into the details and nothing gets passed her. She loves to smile and when she gets excited she breathes real fast and real loud. I hear this every time I turn on Praise Baby =) She loves to jump/bounce, shake her head no and is "miss particular" about her food. She likes alot of things but some days I may have to try 6 or 7 things before I find the ones she's in the mood for that day. Her favorites are definitely yogurt and cheese and based on her parents love for dairy that doesn't surprise us one bit...she gets it so honestly!

Simmons is the one we usually find crawling up our legs to get some extra lovin. She loves a good squeeze and can give a good slobbery kiss...when she wants to ;) She is into anything and everything and just this week has started walking behind her little push toy...it won't be long now...and we'll all be crazy! ;) What a joy Simmons Love is!

Sally Kate didn't know what to think about the snow...this is the look she had the whole time we were out there. She looks so much like Larkin when he was a baby--I will have to post a picture of him when he was this age...

Sally Kate is a MESS! She's nothing but a chunk of love and leaves us laughing all the time. Her smile takes up her whole little face and it will melt your heart in a minute. She is our little drama queen and loves to "talk" saying ma ma ma and da da da, and she also loves to pull sister's hair...we're working on that one ;) She all but shovels in her food at meal time no matter what's put in front of her and sleeps like a champ. She loves a bath but can't stand the fact that getting dressed always comes after that---pajama time is not her favorite to say the least!

She, like her sister, has started walking behind things this week. She thinks she's so big!

We get asked a lot how well they play together, share, etc. and I think they do pretty good considering that there's always somebody to share their toys with. Sometimes they don't bat an eye when one takes a toy away and another time there may be tears everywhere! They really do play well together and we're so thankful they have each other...it's going to be a neat relationship to watch grow. I can't even begin to imagine all of the girlyness and prissyness that's going to take place in our house over the next oh, 18 years. If I think it's drama now then I think we're in for it but we wouldn't have it any other way!

Nine months

They had a great check-up weighing in at 16 lbs 6 oz and 19 lbs 15 oz. Simmons is 28" long and Sally Kate is 28 1/4" long. It will be a while before I take them back to a well baby check up by myself, though. I have never taken them to any appt by myself but I got brave and thought, "oh, it can't be that bad--they don't get shots it will be fine." Well, I was wrong! First of all, I shouldn't have just assumed that my new pediatrician would do everything like the old one. They had to be weighed and checked out in nothing but a dry diaper...changing clothes is one of their least favorite things...enough said. And to top it off they had to end up getting a shot that they were out of at their 6 month check up. I don't think there were any nurses to be found in the hallway or other rooms because they were all in ours. As I said, it will be a while before I do that again ;)

They are pulling up and crawling on anything and everything. This started full force around Christmas and there are no signs of it slowing down! Sally Kate can stand by herself every now and then but Simmons hasn't tried that yet. I am trying to prepare myself that they will be walking soon...bets are on that it will be before their first birthday...we'll see! They both have two bottom teeth and are loving feeding themselves a little bit these days--I think that's about to really crank up because sometimes they just don't want the baby food. They are definitely knowing who their mama and daddy are and get so excited to see us especially when we go into get them from a nap. You would think they hadn't seen us in weeks...so sweet. As for personalities, Sally Kate is our drama queen and Simmons is a little more laid back. Who knows if it will always be that way!

What a MERRY Christmas it was!

Christmas Eve

We were in Meridian for Christmas this year. It was so nice to be at home! Our families came to us and we all celebrated Christmas together. This was the first time that Larkin and I had been at our house for Christmas so we were excited to be here and start a few new traditions. Our families have a great relationship so we were thankful we could all be in one place on Christmas morning.

We had a wonderful meal on Christmas Eve and I was so excited to use my fine china for the first time! Sounds crazy, I know. You would think by year 7 we would have pulled the china and the crystal out a few times but we haven't. That is largely due to the fact that we've never lived in a house with a dining room, so it was like Christmas came 24 hours early. We ate off of of Larkin's grandmother's dining room table that he was given when she moved out of her house. It is beautiful and in such great shape--made the meal and our time around the table so meaningful. All of the serving pieces were passed down to us as well, so we were able to remember and honor those who've gone before us in a special way. The grandmother's would have been proud!

I do not know the Harrisons personally, but it's through friends of friends that I started looking at their blog last year. Please, please join me and many others in praying for them...may the Lord give them more "grace" than ever as they go from here...

I had to start off with one of my favorites from the past month. The girls were 6 1/2 months in this picture. Alot of "milestones" were hit in November so I'll do a quick recap...sitting up was first and that came around 6 1/2 months followed by the attempt to crawl at 7. A tooth broke through around that time for Simmons and she now has her two bottom ones in. SK has one and it won't be long before the second one is in. Simmons has really started crawling in the past week and Sally Kate can only go backwards. She gets so frustrated and makes the most hysterical frustrated noise! Simmons is pulling up on everything and SK not so much. We went to the doctor last week and they were 19 2 and 15 12 so still some weight difference for sure. They are tons of fun but keep me on my toes. Gone are the days of them staying where I put them! Here are a few pictures from November...

A lot has gone on over the past couple of months! Back in September Larkin took a new job with another hospital system. We moved from the northeast corner of the state to more of a centrally located town a few weeks ago...we're closer to my parents and where I am from and certainly more accessible to his! We are really excited to be here and as Larkin's wife, I am thrilled for the career opportunity that he has been given.

As great as new opportunities are it sure doesn't mean that goodbyes weren't tough. Booneville was so good to us...and Tupelo was, too. Alot happened in the 4 years we lived there and we certainly leave with good memories and thankful hearts..

We are getting settled. I think alot of people felt sorry for me when I told them we were moving with 6 month old twins...it wasn't THAT bad ;) They went to the grandparents the week we moved and then came down as if nothing ever happened. Now, the week AFTER all of that was pretty rough--just everybody trying to get in somewhat of a routine, use to a new place, etc. absolutely wore. me. out. And the fact that the girls room is upstairs doesn't help things. I got spoiled living in a one story in Booneville! We did end up renting a house until we can figure out exactly where we want to be. We have a 6 month lease and the thought of moving again in 6 months makes me sick to my stomach...I can't even think about it!! We do love our rental, though, and have the option to buy it...we'll see...we just want to live in the town and be sure before we commit to anything long term...

6 months old

The girls turned 6 months on October 12th. I snapped these pictures at breakfast one morning and am hoping you are loving the "bedheads" as much as I am! At their 6 month check-up a few weeks ago Sally Kate weighed 17 lbs 13 oz. and was in the 75th percentile on weight and the 90th for height. Simmons weighed 14 lbs and was in the 25th percentile for weight and the 50th for height. With every appointment their weight has gotten further apart. We've gone from 1 lb apart at birth to almost 4 lbs apart by 6 months. Crazy! The doctor says by the age of two or three that their weight will have evened out and you will not be able to tell them apart. We'll see!

They're starting to sit up a little bit and Simmons is "scooting" a little more than Sally Kate. They both talk and talk and squeal and squeal...they're too funny. They're loving their exersaucer and jumperoo and I do mean LOVE. It's so fun to watch and I will post a video of it soon. And last but certainly not least, they discovered their feet about a month ago. They are crazy for their little toes and Simmons would rather suck her toe than eat half the time and when she's not doing that she's squealing. Sally Kate just watches her and then gets in her "talking mode"---that girl can do some talking!

They are loads of fun. I am finding that every age is my favorite but I am really, really liking where they are now. Only a month or so left of immobility--then I think the race is on!

These were some pictures taken at Larkin's parents over the weekend. They're so funny together. I can't believe it's been 5 months since they were born! They really are getting to such a fun age. They're smiling and talking all the time and still rolling over...and over and over. Sally Kate now has enough hair to wear a bow but sister girl just isn't quite there yet =)

One year ago today

It was one year ago today that I found out I was pregnant. There were a lot of emotions that went on that day and if I'd only read the pregnancy test that I took correctly we could have saved a heck of alot of tears. So, let me give you a quick walk down memory lane on this day a year ago...We had been in Starkville for the game that weekend and decided to stay through Monday with these sweet friends. I just happened to throw a test in my bag (no box) just in case I might want to take one before I went in for my blood test on Tuesday. Well, sure enough on Monday morning I couldn't resist...I took it. I was looking for a plus sign to show up in one of the windows because I thought that was the kind of test I bought. Anyway, only two lines showed up...one in each window. I was devastated and in somewhat disbelief. Let's just say it was a looooong ride back home. After I had made the dreaded and sobbing phone call to my mom to tell her the disappointing news...and after I told her and Larkin that all I was going to be doing the next day was drinking diet coke and making an appointment to get my hair highlighted (two of my favorite things that I hadn't done in forever because of ivf), I went to get ready for bed and unpack my things. As I went to put something under the sink, I noticed the pregnancy test box mainly because the test on the outside of the box looked just like the one I had taken that morning. I thought to myself, "surely they wouldn't put a negative test on the outside of the box." I just kept thinking, "this can't be...this can't be" so I pulled out the pamphlet and discovered that a line in each window on this specific test means that you're going to have a baby!!! I ran in the den and scared Larkin half to death. I said, "you're not going to believe this, but I think I read the test wrong this morning...it's positive." He just looked at me and said, "what?...go take another one." Sure enough it read the same and we hugged and hugged and cried and got down on our knees by the side of our bed and thanked the Lord a million times over . It's a moment I will never forget and I can't believe it's been one year since all of that happened. I went to the doctor the next day and sure enough it was "official." =)

Alot has gone on since last September 7th. Little did we know that on September 29th we would find out that I was pregnant with two babies. Two babies that turned out to be identical...that share the same DNA. That just doesn't happen all the time. The Lord still blows our minds on that one! Sally Kate and Simmons have filled our hearts with some of the greatest joy we've ever known and being their momma is one of my greatest privileges. I look forward to all of our days ahead filled with laughter, hugs and kisses, bedtime prayers, butterfly days, and lots of singing and dancing. I smile just thinking about it. In the same breath, though, I must say that being their momma is one of the most challenging things I've ever done. I realize more and more everyday that I can't do this on my own. I physically do not have enough strength and stamina to be the kind of momma I want to be without lots of help from the Lord. There are lots of days that I think "I" can do it and those are the days that I am most exhausted--I've had my fair share of them and have learned that the hard way. I am claiming Phil. 4:13...that I really can do all things through Him who gives me strength. They have both mastered the art of rolling over in the past 3 weeks. Simmons, however, absolutely loves practicing this new skill. So much so that she has woken herself up about one million times in the past week because she's ended up on her back and hates it (we have some stomach sleeping girls ;)

The pictures show how I find them either in the middle of their nap or at the end of it. Half the time Simmons has kicked one of her feet out of her footed pajamas--how in the world she does that I have no idea! I must say that their personalities are finally starting to come through. I think it's safe to say that Simmons is going to be our little pistol and Sally Kate is going to be the one watching her and saying "Sisterrrrrr you shouldn't do that!"

Just wanted to share a chicken enchiladas recipe that Larkin's mom (G-mama) made for his birthday a few weeks ago. We had them again tonight and they were super yummy...definitely should give them a try if you're looking for something new!

Chicken Enchiladas
3 chicken breast
1 small can of diced green chilis (do not drain)
Olive oil (enough to saute in)
Minced garlic (a little to your liking)
1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese (can be the bag of shredded mexican blend, too)
1 block of cream cheese
1 cup heavy whipping cream
Shredded cheddar cheese (just a little)
Tortillas

Boil chicken. In skillet saute chilis and garlic in olive oil. Add monterey jack cheese and cream cheese. Stir in about 1/2 cup water and add chicken. Put mixture in tortillas, roll up and put in 9 by 13 pan. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over them and pour whipping cream over it all. Bake at 350 for 20 or 30 minutes. Makes 5 or 6 if you use the big tortillas.

Last Sunday was such a special day for us. Our family and friends joined us as we baptized our precious girls. It was a wonderful, glorious day in which we said yes to nurturing and teaching them about Jesus so that one day they will want to come to know and love Jesus for themselves. Our pastors, Will & Bryan, each took a baby girl and it meant so much to have them be a part of it all. I will never forget those few precious moments!

Sally Kate & Simmons did great. I wasn't so sure what the morning was going to look like after the "total come apart" that SK had beforehand but she ended up doing fine. It was a great day...one we will always remember and celebrate every year on August 22nd!

Their little personalities haven't developed too much. I have alot of people ask me that. I know any day they will start to develop and I can't wait! As far as looking alike there are days where they really look identical to me and then days where they don't. I am sure that will change as they get older. Overall, they are so fun and I could just kiss their sweet little cheeks off!!

Well, the title says it all! I am finally giving an update on this blog!! It's a miracle! It's been quite crazy around the Kennedy household the past 6 weeks and when I think about trying to update you on ALL of it it's quite overwhelming SO we're just going to start with a few recent pictures. They will be 10 weeks old on Monday and everyone seems to think they look just like their daddy--esp Sally Kate!! (Simmons is on the left and Sally Kate on the right)

The last two pictures are with Keegan & Camden, the sweet identical twin boys that live about a mile down the road who were born just two weeks before Sally Kate & Simmons. How crazy is that?! In our little small town who would have thought that two sets of identical twins would be born so close together, much less live so close. We absolutely love seeing them--it's been fun! Also, the picture above the four of them is just a little insight into our day. Katie had ordered these bottle props off of Etsy so I was sure to follow that great idea. We usually feed them in their boppy's but the bouncy seat was the closest thing that day!

The girls really are doing great. We had our 2 month visit this past week and they got their shots. Sally Kate now weighs 10 lbs 1 oz and Simmons weighs 8 lbs 1 oz. The doctor said they looked like a million bucks so mom and dad will take that kind of report any day! We are starting to get a little sleep around here but I'd be lying if I told you that I didn't feel like I am running on fumes alot of days. As with one baby or two, it's just constant. That's the best word I can think of to describe it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a momma to two but sister doesn't stop! I think once we're sleeping through the night then obviously a lot of exhaustion will go away. We are getting there, though, so it shouldn't be long. They slept from 10:30 to 4 last night so yay yay yay!

Now that they've had their shots I am looking forward to getting out more. It's time to find out what our new life as parents of two is really like!

2 week check-up

We went on Tuesday for our 2 week check-up and my mom and I couldn't resist putting them in these hats. It was pretty windy and a little on the cool side so the perfect reason for something on their little heads! They had a great check-up. Sally Kate weighed 5 lbs 12 oz and Simmons weighed 4 lbs 11 oz. so they are gaining weight and the doctor said they looked healthy as could be. I had alot of questions that got answered so it was a good appt all the way around. The past two nights have gone pretty smooth and we have actually gotten some sleep. We are thankful for nights where they only wake up to eat and then go right back down! We'll see how long these "good" nights last ;)

They called Saturday morning to say that Simmons was ready to go home! We knew she was close but didn't know it would be quite that soon--needless to say, we were pretty excited to get the phone call! Sally Kate & Simmons hadn't been together since they were born so getting them back together was a sweet time. We got them all ready to head home and got here that night...

It's so good to have us all under one roof. We all actually got some pretty good sleep the first night, but last night was a different story. Hopefully we can meet in the middle somewhere tonight because if not this mama and daddy are going to be worn out!! My mom and Lanny have been such a HUGE help and we may never let them go home! I am learning real fast that I am going to have to catch a nap here and there during the day while they sleep in order to be able to function. So, speaking of, I'm headed that way...with a very, very thankful heart...I can't think of a better reason to have to crash for a few hours.

April 12th, 2010...

one of the best days of our lives for sure! We had no idea when we woke up that morning that we would have our precious girls that night but we did and here we are! Sally Katelyn (Sally Kate) weighed 5 lbs. 7 oz and Simmons Love (Simmons) weighed 4 lbs 3 oz. We are all doing good. Sally Kate has been with us from day 1 but Simmons has needed a little extra attention in the NICU. She's doing great but just needing a little more time to be able to establish a good eating pattern and have the energy to take down all of her bottle at each feeding. It's just part of being early and something that she has to grow into being able to do. We are not sure when she will be ready to go home but hopefully it will be soon. It could be in a few days or it could be next week. It's hard for anybody to know exactly but we're praying it will be sooner rather than later.

I was discharged over the weekend but we have been able to stay in our hospital room so for that we are very thankful. It's made things very convenient, especially as we take care of Sally Kate and can take her to the nursery when we go see Simmons. We're getting use to having one baby with us and we can't wait to be able to add Simmons to the mix.

What joy has filled our hearts the past 10 days!! Will keep you posted when we're headed back to the big city...

Not just a whole lot to report from my appointment yesterday and I guess that's probably a good thing! Things are still rocking along. My blood pressure was great and that's the main thing they've been keeping an eye on. I have had a good bit of swelling in my legs and feet and the next thing that could change would be the pressure. So, for the "pressures" to be good is a great thing! =) I go back next Wednesday and we'll see how much they weigh, etc. so I should definitely know more after that appointment. No big plans for the weekend except to prop up my feet and enjoy this beautiful weather...and maybe convince my husband to plant a flower or two =) Taking it easy is high on the priority list for both of us because change is coming quick! They'll be here before we know it!!!!

Crystal Springs Shower

Sweet friends from Crystal Springs/Hazlehurst hosted a wonderful shower for me at the end of February. I grew up in Hazlehurst so it was so neat to go back and celebrate with those who I don't get to see as often, but have meant so much to me for so long. It was at Mrs. Debbie's house and was absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way! Sally Kate & Simmons were showered with lots and lots of love and I got to share our joy with so many sweet, dear friends that day. It was wonderful! Wish we could do it all over again!

On the countdown

We are all growing by the day! I will be 33 weeks tomorrow! I went to the doctor last Thursday and Sally Kate weighed 4 lbs 14 oz and Simmons weighed 4 lbs. SK is in the 71st percentile and Simmons is in the 46th so I think they're doing just fine ;) The ultrasound looked great...it's getting a little harder to tell what is what because they are so big now. You would think it would be the opposite but they are so smushed in there that it all starts to look the same after a while. They both have a good bit of hair so YAY for all of the bows to come! All is looking great with me. We are just taking everything week by week and shoot to make it to 37 weeks if we can. There are some days I think I will make it that long and then other days I wonder if I will just make it to the next day, so who knows. If I can just make it to 34 weeks we'll be smooth sailing. They are measuring a little on the bigger side so that makes me feel better about them coming before 37.

Their room is pretty much done. I am just waiting on my chair and need to put a few more things on the wall once I get it and then will post some pictures of it! I thought their bedding turned out pretty cute so here is a picture of it until I can get the other ones up...

Almost 30 weeks...

and counting! Here is a picture of my lovely belly at just a few days shy of hitting the big 3-0. I can't believe I only have 7 more weeks to go--at the most. It has flown by!! I am feeling good...the fluid in my legs and feet has shown up in a big way the past few days but other than that I really can't complain. We go for our 3D ultrasound tomorrow so we're looking forward to that. I mentioned in one of my previous post that I was going for my gestational diabetes test a few weeks ago and sure enough I failed it the first time. I went back this past Thursday to take the three hour test and they called me on Friday to say I had passed! So YAY for continuing my trips to TCBY everytime I go to Memphis!! I don't know what I would do if I had to go the rest of my pregnancy without white chocolate mousse and strawberries!!

And speaking of food, I've really been on a few "food kicks" lately. I am not a huge Mexican person but lately I've been able to take down a taco salad in no time. It's sooo good--especially when I am lucky enough to stop when I am in Memphis and get it from Swanky's Taco Shop (thanks to Jordan). My other new craving and "must have" on the total opposite end from Mexican is Carnation Instant Breakfast (thanks to Anna Katherine). I LOVE this stuff. I have one everyday and my babies are probably going to weigh 7 lbs each because of it but that's okay. It's full of protein and all of the good stuff so on top of taking 2 pre-natals for being slightly anemic I am drinking this stuff, too. Our girls are sure not going to be lacking in the vitamin department!! And last but not least, I couldn't make it through the day without Clearly American Water--Strawberry Kiwi flavor. This stuff is awesome!! And so cheap!!

Their room is coming along. Still feel like there is a good bit to do but I know it will get done. I try to do a little bit everyday but sometimes I just can't seem to make a decision on anything, therefore delaying the nursery progress...oh well! My hospital bag is pretty much packed. Larkin ask me everyday how that is coming...he is so funny. It's taken some time to get everything that needs to go in it but now I am finally able to say, "yes, babe, it's packed!"

Some of our sweet family and dear, dear friends from high school and college (and Oxford=) gave me a shower a few weeks ago and it was so very special. I can't thank you all enough for making it so great. They have walked with us so closely on our journey to these sweet baby girls and it meant so much to have us all in one place. What a day of celebration it was and one of my favorite parts about the shower were the sweet butterfly notes/quotes they had each written as they thought about our friendship and where our journey had taken it the past few years and/or blessings for the future. I will treasure them always! I love you all dearly...you are some of the best friends and family a girl could ever ask for!

Inverness Shower

I had a shower in Inverness weekend before last and it was just so great! I enjoyed every minute of seeing those that mean so much to Larkin and his family and that have come to be so dear to me. It was a wonderful celebration and Sally Kate & Simmons got some great stuff!! The only down side to this shower was that my mom was at home sick in the bed so she wasn't able to make it. We missed her greatly but the bed is exactly where she needed to be!! Thankfully, she is much better now!

New blogger and a little more...

Just wanted to give a little shout out to my newest blogger friend...Michelle! SO excited she has started a blog to keep us up-to-date as she gets ready to head to NYC in August. I have no doubt there will be many stories to keep us entertained along the way! I've been lucky enough to get to spend the past week with her and it's been so much fun. Miss you, already, chelle and can't wait to see you again soon!!!

In other news, things are still going great with Sally Kate & Simmons. I was 27 weeks on Tuesday and will go back to the doc next Tuesday for the lovely sugar test. I have already decided that I am going to fail it...I don't know why I am thinking that way but maybe I'll get lucky and pass! I had a couple of showers last weekend that were absolutely wonderful so I can't wait to post some pics from those when I get back home next week. We are on our last traveling hoorah for the next few days and I am enjoying every minute of being laid up in a hotel room! Might be a while before we see the inside of one of these again!

Nursery & Names

We have really made alot of progress on their nursery in the past few weeks. My parents came up two weeks ago and my dad knocked the painting out. He did a great job!! He loves doing this kind of thing and so it didn't take us long for us to take him up on his offer. Mom and I got alot of cleaning out done that weekend and even did a little rearranging that gave us a bit more room so to say I felt a sense of accomplishment when they left is an understatement!

Larkin's parents came up this past weekend and the closet was the project for those few days. When we moved into this house it had no shelf, clothes bar, etc. and until now we've really had no reason to add that stuff since the room wasn't used as our main guest room. SO, now we have a shelf and a hanging bar thanks to Larkin and his dad. They did an awesome job! The chest in the closet was Larkin and Sally Love's and it fits perfectly in there. They also got the chandelier up and put a dimmer switch on it just for me. I love a dimmer switch =) The little table you see in the picture was Larkin's so Mrs. Lanny repainted that and it goes great with our furniture.

It's all coming together but it sure wouldn't be without all of the help we've had so again a BIG thank you goes out to our parents...y'all are the BEST!!

I ordered the chair and ottoman today so that should be in around the end of February. I went with a Best Chair--you just can't beat it. The bedding should be in sometime next week. Can't wait!

I still have a good bit of energy so I am trying to knock out as much as I can while I still feel like it. Although, the doctor did just remind me yesterday of how much I should be resting and cutting back on my activity. And I have to say that I am doing pretty good for the most part--that is just a really hard concept for me but I know I rather follow his orders now than end up in the bed later!

Also, I mentioned in my last post that we would have names soon and it feels good to say that yes, we do have names picked out! We are going to have two precious baby girls whose names will be...

Sally Katelyn and Simmons Love...Sally Kate & Simmons

They are all family names. Larkin's sister's name was Sally Love. Also, Sally is Mrs. Lanny's first name along with Mrs. Lanny's mom's first name. Love is part of Mr. Bill's mom's name and is what all of the grandchildren called her. The "lyn" in Katelyn is after my mom, Lynn. Simmons was my grandmother's (mom's mom) maiden name and it's also on my dad's side of the family. These are all such special names to us and we are so thankful to be able to honor those that have gone before us along with those that are still here with us. We look forward to the day when we can tell Sally Kate and Simmons who they're named after...

Just wanted to give a little update on how things are going! We are all doing great! I went to the doctor on Monday and everything looked just as it should. The babies are each weighing around 1 lb which is just crazy to me! I've started feeling them move in the past few weeks and their little movements only get stronger and more noticeable with each passing day. I have been having a funny, uncomfortable feeling under my right set of ribs and come to find out, I have 2 sets of feet that are meeting at my rib! The babies are L-shaped right now so we'll see how long they stay that way. This doctors appt kicked off my 2 week visits so that's hard to believe. I was 22 weeks yesterday and here is a promised belly pic...

Their room is going to be pink so this week I've been trying to decide on exactly which shade. I am going for a light shade of pink but haven't found "the one"...almost, but not quite. My parents are headed this way in a few days to help us paint so I have to get it figured out by Saturday! I have decided on their bedding. And yes, it's very pink and girly =) Huge props to Larkin for being such a good sport when it comes to all of this "ruffley" stuff. Here are a few swatches of material that it will consist of...

And this is the bed it will go in...Here is one of my favorite parts about their room...I have always loved the thought of a chandelier in a baby girls nursery and I was so excited when I found it. I love love LOVE it and can't wait to get it up.

it's time to start thinking PINK!!! We have two baby GIRLS on the way!!! We are so very excited!!! This will come as no surprise to all of you who voted for girls as the number definitely outweighed the votes for boys! Larkin has been thinking boys the whole time and I jumped on the boy train about a month ago..BUT it looks like we were both wrong and we couldn't be more thrilled about having two precious girls. The babies look great and healthy so for that we are thankful. And yes, I have finally posted some belly pics =)

We went to the doctor a few weeks ago and everything looked great! We go back on December 7th and will get to find out what we're having!! It's all gone by so fast that we can't believe it's almost time to know if they are boys or girls. So for fun, I've posted a "blog poll" so let us know what you think they are! I went through Oxford on my way home a few weeks ago and decided to make a quick trip to the Mustard Seed. I literally had about 10 minutes and of course, when you're not looking for anything in-particular is when you see it! ;) I had thought a little bit about changing tables and baby beds but not much but I knew when I saw this piece that it would make a great changing table. I wanted an older piece that I knew we could use later....SO, much earlier than expected, we made our 1st purchase. I liked it even more once we got it home and I think it's going to work great. Now, I guess it's on to thinking about beds!

Double digits

Well, I must say it feels good to reach a "double digit" week of pregnancy--I hit week 10 today! We had an appointment on Monday and everything is looking great. The babies have grown so much and we were able to see their little arms and legs for the first time. One was going ninety to nothing and the other one was curled up and sound asleep. Their heart rates were in the 170's and they're measuring just as they should.

I am still feeling good. I've actually really surprised myself because I just knew that I was going to be dead dog sick. My stomach is weird to begin with and I don't tolerate birth control very well so I just knew I was going to be in for it...BUT, knock on wood, I've really been okay. I do have nausea from time to time but not anything that a zofran can't take care of ;)

As far as cravings, I've had a few. I definitely have not craved ANYTHING healthy. I could eat junk food all day everyday. My craving of the week is Doritos...last week it was Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Quick story on doughnuts---I ran to Wal Mart last week to pick up just a few things (that were NOT on the food side might I add) and I couldn't resist the Krispy Kreme stand they had when I walked in the door! So, I swiped me a box and then took down TWO in the car on the way home---and I don't even live 5 minutes from Wal Mart...Wow--I wonder how many more stories I'll have like that between now and April?! Probably quite a few...

JOY

As alot of you already know, we found out several weeks ago that we will be having IDENTICAL TWINS next spring. We actually found out on September the 8th that we were pregnant and on the 29th we had our first ultrasound that discovered we will be having TWO babies in May!!! We couldn't be more excited and are so, so thankful for this blessing!!! It's been a long, long road and sharing this fun news with you sure has been a long time coming!!! There were days that I wondered if we would ever be able to share this kind of news with anyone, but the Lord is faithful...and here we are....and we truly couldn't have anymore joy in our hearts than we do right now.

Who knows why we have to wait so long for those things that we desire most. Larkin and I have seen some pretty dark days over this "waiting period" but we only hope and pray that our dark days can help bring some light to other couples who may walk our same road. And of course,
we truly cannot thank our family and friends enough for all of the support they have given us and all the many, many, thousands of prayers that were lifted up for us and Baby Kennedy to be. So many have loved us and walked with us and for that we are forever grateful.

We are due May 18th but since it's two they have moved it up about 3 weeks to the end of April. Things have looked GREAT so far so we pray they continue to. Will keep you posted!

Beachin It

We were able to get away with Will & Merissa for a few days in June. It was so nice and relaxing...a much needed vacation for all of us! From great weather to good conversation from eating way too much to playing Settlers way too long...it was a great trip! So thankful for good times and good friends. And if you have never played The Settlers of Catan you need to check it out. It's definitely a little overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of it it's great. It's now my choice for game night =)

3 movies in 5 days...

Yes, you read that right. I just got back from going to the movies for the 3rd time in less than a week. For those of you that know me well don't fall out of your chair. I know it's not my style...I guess this turning 28 thing has turned over a new leaf and my movie loving husband is liking it...alot =) Seriously, though, I probably go to the movies 2 or 3 times a year...maybe. It's not ever been something I have loved to do---I guess I would rather chat =)....BUT maybe it's the "new thing" of my late 20's...I guess we'll see.

Anyway, we have seen... ...by far my favorite...LOVED it and surprisingly LK liked it, too....

...good story line but a few too many gunshots and blood for me...

and last but not least...

...WOW is about all that comes to mind--it is funny, though--I have to give it that...

And yes, these are in rank order. Didn't mean to do that but it just worked out that way! Not really sure what we will see next. That $16 may need to go towards something else for a few weeks ;)

I received this devotion a few weeks ago and it has stuck with me ever since. I thought it was too good not to share. I know sometimes I tend to focus on "the not so goods" of life when in reality I have more good than I know what to do with and have so much to be thankful for. Reunion

A few weeks ago I had my 10 year class reunion. It was a great weekend. So good seeing everybody and catching up! On Friday night everybody that could met up at Julep around 9 and then on Saturday afternoon we had an Ice Cream Social at JA. We all headed to the Jackson Yacht Club that night. I can't believe it's already come and gone...I would do the weekend over in a heartbeat! Here's to another great 10 years...

Coldplay

We saw Coldplay in concert on Saturday night and it. was. awesome. You should go if you ever get the chance. Larkin has always been a huge fan so I give him all of the credit for making me one. I never knew that an entertainer could have so much energy. Chris Martin was unbelievable. We sat on the first row of the lower level so we were right above the floor seats. Coldplay made their way to the back towards the middle of the concert so they walked right in front of us on their way hence the close-up pic of Chris. AND Larkin got a high five as he walked by. So...yes, he touched his sweaty self and he will probably tell you that in the first five seconds of talking to him if you ask him about the concert... =) We had a blast and would go see them again in a heartbeat. Several of our good friends went so we all ate dinner together beforehand....it was a really fun night...and we have listened to Coldplay every day since then! =)

I have always been real "starstruck" so for those of you that are the same way...you will definitely enjoy this story...

Larkin and I took supper to an elderly couple in our neighborhood last night and as we were sitting there visiting Nashville came up in the conversation. Mrs. Preston started telling me how she still goes to the dentist up there (they lived there when they first got married). The last time she was there for her appt. she and her dentist (he's early 40's and his wife is a nurse at Baptist) were visiting and he said, "Well, Mrs. Preston, you will never believe who my wife is working for now.....she happened to be at the hospital when Nicole Kidman came in to have her baby and apparently they liked the way she did things so they asked if she would be interested in being their nanny....they hired her and one of the other nurses that helped them while they were there. One works a month while the other is off..."

So to say my mouth dropped when she told me that story was an understatment. She said they fly them on their private jet all of the time to their 4 houses. And of course that means if they are flying around the country with Nicole then they're flying around the country with...Keith Urban...my favorite singer e-v-e-r. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I told Mrs. Preston to put in a good word for me when she goes back to the dentist in August...just in case they may need another one sometime or something...you know. And yes, Katey, you can go with me when I go =)

I love stories like that...especially when you know someone...that knows someone...that works with the rich and famous!!

Meg graduated from Oxford High School a few weeks ago so Larkin and I went to be a part of the big day! We so enjoyed getting to spend most of the day with her family. Meg & I lived in Hazlehurst when we were little and everybody use to think we were sisters. Just over the past few years have we "re-connected" and I have loved every minute of it. Congrats, Meg! =)

We were so thankful to have this time together. It seems like when the whole extended family is together it's always over a quick meal or something so we were glad to have 4 whole days!! It was great and I can't wait to do it again next year. AND I can't wait for many more hours of progressive rummy...just sayin...(fyi--i have a slight obsession)

Lagging behind!

I have definitely been a little behind when it comes to blogging, BUT I am back and hope to do a better job at documenting what's happening around here! =)

As for this week, I have managed to plant a little "color" in the backyard but it's a slow process. I will post a few pictures when it's complete. We don't have our pool open yet but we're hoping to get that done over the weekend....I think once that is done and the flowers are planted it will officially feel like and look like summer around here and I can't wait. And of course if you live in close proximity to the big city you are welcome to come take a dip anytime!

On another note, I've been trying to figure out how to be a little more creative when it comes to taking pictures with our camera. We've had our Canon Rebel for quite a while but we've never taken the time to actually read the manual (imagine that) and learn how to use the "creative zones" as they call it. You know, learning how to change and use your AF (auto focus), your aperture, and so on and so on...We have decided we are going to try and figure it out this weekend so we'll see how that goes.

The month of March has been so fun! We were gone from the 1st to the 8th as we traveled 3 different states and got to see some of our nearest and dearest. Everything just happened to fall the same week so we hit the road on the 1st and headed to Jackson. I have to give a little shout out to my husband on the reason for this trip. As some of you know, he is the administrator of the hospital here in Booneville. He has an awesome team and an incredible staff and they were nominated by the MS Nurses Association for Hospital of the Year. While they didn't win the award, it was a fun night. It was a big deal just to be nominated so I am so proud of him! =) He headed back with some co-workers the next morning and I stayed for another night and got to see Jennifer and big sister Ellie, as well as sweet Amanda...such a treat. I headed back to Booneville on Wednesday and made a little stop at the Overstreets on my way home. So fun!

On Thursday morning we headed to Memphis for the day. Lk had a meeting that morning so I shopped and then met Jordan for lunch. We went to the Commissary in Germantown. It's a BBQ joint and it's SO good. If you are ever up that way you need to go =). And speaking of shopping, I am a big fan of Ann Taylor Loft. They have some super cute stuff right now so if you are a fan you may want to check it out.

Our last little excursion was to Birmingham. We bought tickets for the Davis Cup so we were looking forward to watching some tennis. We stayed with Mary Ellen & Jeff and had a blast. It was so fun seeing them and seeing all of the other fun friends that come with a visit to B'ham....the Butlers, the Flowers, Katie Madden and her sweet guy, Harris. It's always great to see and catch up with those you wish you could see more often!! Also, Mary Ellen & Jeff have an awesome house with a great front porch. Combine that with perfect weather and a glass of wine and voila...you have a good combination. I told Larkin he should be thankful that we weren't at home because it would have been a major yardwork day had we been there =) Thanks again for having us guys! Before we left on Sunday I got to see my sweet, sweet, friend Meredith. We were able to hang out and grab lunch and it was wonderful. We rarely get that much time together so I was so thankful! Go here to check out her precious family...

So there you have it, proof that we have officially burnt up any road that leads to a major city from Booneville =) I wouldn't have it any other way, though, and I can't think of a better way to spend a week out of the month than spending it with those who mean so much. =)

I just realized that my last post was on February 1st...where has this month gone?!?! Can't believe that tomorrow is the first day of March. I have to say, though, that it's always a refreshing feeling to start a new month...especially during these cold months it just feels good to know that spring is making it's way around the corner.

We have made a few road trips the past couple of weeks and that has been fun. We ended up making a last minute trip to

Oxford for Valentine's Day and it was great. We hit up two of our favorite restaurants...Boure for lunch and 208 for dinner. They were delicious! We did manage to get in a little tennis and shopping in between so that was fun. The weather was beautiful!

A few days later we headed to Memphis for the Regions Morgan Keegan Tennis Championship. His parents had given us tickets to go see Sampras play so we met them there and watched tennis for a couple of days. It was really fun to watch "the pros" play. Mrs. Lanny's birthday happened to fall on one of

the days we were there so it worked out great to be able to celebrate it. Thanks again, Lanny & Bill, for such great tickets and a good time.

On another note, who would have thought that the chance of snow today would be 90%?!?! Here's to hoping we get a few inches this weekend. I always seem to be in the place the snow is not so I am hoping that's not the case this time! =)

So, I am a much bigger fan of the blogging world than I am of the facebook world so I thought I would apply the "25 random things about myself" tag to my blog! =) I don't ever do stuff like this but what the heck...And I think I am going to tag on here, so Katey, Courtney and Meredith you're it! =)

1.) I lived in Hazlehurst and went to Copiah Academy through the 7th grade and then moved to Jackson.
2.) I love marking things off my to-do-list
3.) The sound of someone crunching ice is my biggest pet peeve.
4.) I am very obsessive compulsive about balancing our checkbook...at least once a day sometimes twice.
5.) I had to wear a back brace from the 7th to ninth grade b/c of scoliosis. I slept in one for two years and then wore one around the clock for a year...not fun but it kept it from getting worse and we were thankful for that.
6.) I would do high school all over again. I loved it that much.
7.) I could put cheese on everything. It's my favorite.
8.) I have a tendency to be a little "hypochondriac'ish"...the first funny feeling and I have already diagnosed myself with the worst possible diagnosis. So let's just say that having a headache is never a good thing around here...
9.) I love Starkville and everything about it...
10.) My dad calls me "precious durlin" (darling) and I love that.
11.) I talk to my mom everyday...most days more than once.
11.) Chrysalis/Crossroads was one of the best things I ever did. It blessed me so much and I absolutely love being involved with it now.
12.) My mil (mother-in-law) and I are super close.
13.) I am always moving furniture, accessories, etc. around at our house...I love changing things up!
14.) Nobody really had alot of faith in me before I got married that I would be able to cook (esp. my mates and Mary Stewart) b/c of the terrible job (aka cookies that turned out like a sheet of concrete) I did beforehand. Needless to say, things are a little different now thank goodness--I have discovered slice and bake =)
15.) Going back and visiting Oxford is one of my favorite things to do. (We lived there for two years). I never thought this MSU fan would say that but it's the truth =)
16.) Diet coke is my weakness.
17.) I talk in my sleep alot.
18.) I really don't care to go to the movies at all. I will go see a girly one every now and then but that's rare.
19.) The Mustard Seed (antique store in Oxford) is my favorite place to shop for furniture, etc.
20.) I am very particular about my hair. I roll it everyday and could never make it without hair spray =)
21.) I take a bath every night before I go to bed. It totally relaxes me and I am convinced I sleep better because of it!
22.) Bulldog Deli is my favorite restaurant. Period.
23.) I use to get really homesick when I was little (just ask Meredith).
24.) I have some of the greatest friends in the world. I could write 25 things just on them. I would be in a loony bin without them. =)
25.)And saving the best for last...I knew after a month of dating Larkin that I would marry him someday. And no, the 15 breakups in a 3 year period never really put that "knowing" to rest. I knew in my heart it would happen and it did. I have been the happiest girl ever since! =)

My sweet friend, Jamie, made a topper for the shower curtain in our guest bathroom back before Christmas and I thought it turned out great! Having that space above the rod filled makes such a difference! She is so good at picking out material, etc. and then she had it made in no time! I really appreciate her help on this! =)

We went to Collierville for New Years Eve and had such a good time ringing in the new year with the Ramseys!

Also, I got an e-mail the other day entitled "Tips for a better 2009" and thought it was too good not to share. Definitely some great things and thoughts to try and work into our daily lives as well as some good reminders!

Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It isthe ultimate anti-depressant.

Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.

Buy a DVR and tape your late night shows and get more sleep.

When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'

Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

Play more games and read more books than you did in 2008.

Make time to practice meditation, yoga, tai chi, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.

Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

Dream more while you are awake.

Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

We really had such a great Christmas. The best part was getting to spend so much time with our family. It was so nice not to be in a hurry and to have more than 48 hours (a weekend) to visit! We left here on the 18th and got back this past Sunday. We loved every minute of our "Christmas vacation" =) From Christmas with my parents to his from the Kennedy extended family Christmas to the Baker family Christmas it was a blast and we enjoyed it so much. We are so blessed!

So I just had to brag a little bit on two of the most talented people I know! The first one is my mother-in-law, Lanny and the cute wreath she made for us! She wanted to make a "fun" wreath for inside and our laundry room door is the perfect place for it. It's the first thing I see every time I walk in the back door. I l-o-v-e love it! =)

Second, my sweet friend Andrea made all of the families in our small group an adorable frame with each families initial on it for Christmas. She is a super busy person and still has lots of orders to fill before Christmas so for her to take the time to do this meant so much to all of us! Thanks again, Andrea! =) See her cute business here....

And speaking of favorite things...I have to say that I am lovin having a laptop now. Right now I am really liking the fact that I can blog sitting at the bar in the kitchen. Larkin has been wanting a Mac for a while now so Santa came a little early and made the special delivery. We are loving it. Wireless=nice =)

Nashville

Larkin had a Healthcare conference in Nashville last week at the Opryland Hotel so we headed up there last Monday and got back on

Thursday. We had never been there before but had always heard how beautiful it was and that fact was definitely confirmed! Highly recommend going there when you get the chance and especially recommend it at Christmas. Although, I hope you don't end up with the stomach virus while you are there like Larkin did:( Of course, it's always two times worse when you get sick away from home but he made it and is much better. I only wish you could have seen me trying to communicate with the housekeepers that didn't speak English, though. Talk about a new kind of sign language! You would have thought I was trying to tell a wall that I needed disinfectant of some sort...That's another story for another day! As I said he is much better and I can't believe I haven't gotten it....It was a week ago today that he had it so maybe I am in the clear...now that I have said that I probably will wake up with it tonight!!

Apart from the sickness part of the trip, I must say that the highlight of the trip was getting to see Rachel! We did all get to hang out the first night we were there and I beat everybody in Rummikub...ha--yeh right. We had a blast and the dinner was delicious! Wished we lived closer so we could do it more often!! =)

The pictures really don't do it justice so I guess you'll just have to go see it in person. Sorry there are no "people pictures." Oh well, there's always next time...

Thanksgiving in the big city

My family came to Booneville for Thanksgiving and we enjoyed every minute of them being here! They got in on Wednesday and left late Friday afternoon. It felt kind of strange for us not to be on the road but I must say it was kind of nice! This was our first Thanksgiving to have at our house and we loved it. Mom & Dad brought a few things and we made a few things and it was great. A very relaxed few days that was much needed for us all. Loved having y'all and can't wait for you to come back! =)

Arkansas Game

We went to the Arkansas game in Starkville a few weeks ago. It was Camp's birthday & we were able to see him before the game and give him with a little MSU gear to sport on game day. A hat with Bully on it definitely hit the jack pot and the football he is holding didn't hurt too much either =) After that we headed to meet Larkin's parents at the Bulldog Deli (which by the way is my favorite place to eat in Starkville and all my good friends from college know this and remind of my obsession quite often=) We also got to see Jordan & Saunders for a little while which was great and then headed to the game only to sit two rows behind my little cousins. It was great seeing Elizabeth & Jon, Anna Margaret & Hayden. They are so cute and sweet and we don't get to see them near enough because of our distance, but Liz and I have decided that we're going to work on that..we have way too much fun when we're together not to get together =)

So long to football season in Vegas....May next year bring just as much fun with friends and alot more checkmarks in the "W" column...

Anna Katherine and I got to catch up last week! I went and spent the night with her last Thursday night after I got through going to driving school in Hernando. And yes, you read that right, I had to go to driving school. Long story short, but I got a ticket about a month ago and they now require that if you are over 21 you are not allowed to take it on-line but have to take classroom instruction. Doesn't make alot of sense does it?! You would think it would be the other way around. Anyway, the only nights they offer driving school in Booneville or Tupelo is on Wednesday night and since that is our small group night that wasn't going to work. So, I got on the internet to see what my other options were and it turned out that they offer the class in Hernando on a night beside Wednesday! I was hoping that it would work out where I would get to see that cute girl and sweet boy in the pick above...and it worked out perfect. We had the best visit. Max is super cute and she & Scott have just built a new house and it's beautiful. I loved every second of being with them. Thanks, Anna Kay for having me! Can't wait to do it again soon!

On a side note...I get to driving school that night and we have to register. They tell us to get in line with our drivers license and our $40. I get in line and get up to the table, pull out my license and realize...wait a minute...this is not the picture on my license...this is my old one...oh my gosh where is it?!?! I start to panick a little bit of course and go off to the side pulling everything out of my wallet thinking that I just accidentally put it behind my credit card or something...nope...not in there...not in my purse..not in my console...not anywhere in my car. Where in the world could it be? At this point I feel like I am losing my mind and I was really wishing that our SSN was still the same as our license number...Then it FINALLY dawns on me that I had taken my clutch to the wedding and I remember that I had stuck it in there. And where do you think my clutch was? In my closet in Booneville. Larkin was out of town so it wasn't like he could read me my license number. Anyway, I go back up there and she says, "Oh, I do that all of the time just give me your social and you'll be good." Thanks for telling me that in first place instead of making me think you would kick me out if I didn't have it....but I mean really, who comes to driving school without their current license?!? Only me! And to top it all off I am driving to Anna Kay's house AFTER driving school and see some blue lights in the distance. I am thinking, "please tell me no..please tell me no...not a road block...not a road block." Yes, it was a road block. I let my window down and all I could do was kind of laugh as I held up my driving school certificate and tell them that I only had my expired license. Luckily, they were in a good mood and found it quite humorous, too. Thank goodness they let me go...
